Potato famine or the Great Hunger was a period of mass starvation, disease, and emigration in Ireland between 1845 and 1852.
In this period of time, some things changed.
When the english settlers came to Peru, and they crushed the locals.
They were introduced to a whole new way of growing potatoes.
They used seagulls poo to stimulate the growth of the potatoes so they grew a lot faster.
They didn’t know that what they did would ruïn a lot of lives.
But the great hunger started with taking the poo back to Europe.
Because they were contaminated with a very bad disease.
They ate a lot of potatoes in Ireland and it saved them from starving of hunger.
When the poo came in Ireland the potatoes weren’t growing so well anymore.
and very quick there wasn’t enough food for the whole country.
So a lot of people decided to leave Ireland for the U.S.A where they started a new live, and had enough food...
